Scope and policy
Scope and Policy: The Revista Derecho del Estado has the compromise to fulfill the general standards of academic quality. All documents will be sent to anonymous referees and will be considered disregard its theoretical approach, the author's point of view, or the method used. It will be consider the general standards of an academic research, having preference for unpublished works within the wide range of constitutional law. The journal is committed to international standards of scientific publication. It follows the guidelines of the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity, Singapore, July 22-24, 2010: http://publicationethics.org/files/International%20standard_editors_for%20website_11_Nov_2011.pdfGuidelines for authors can be found in: http://publicationethics.org/files/International%20standards_authors_for%20website_11_Nov_2011.pdf Article's evaluation process: All documents would have a preliminary evaluation from the Editorial Coordinator, the Editorial Board or the Editor, where the thematic characteristics will determine the pertinence of its inclusion in the selection process. Once the documents are selected for the evaluation process, they will be sent to two different referees, national or international, who can recommend the following: a) publish including suggested adjustments; b) review and send again; c) not publish. It there is any discrepancy between the referee's opinions, this will be solved by sending the article to a third party. The Editorial Board has the final decision over the documents that will be published in the journal; after reviewing the comments made by the referees. Periods of evaluation: The Editorial Coordinator will send the articles to evaluation as soon as possible. Referee's evaluation will be done within a period of two months. If the referees recommend not to publish the document, it will be taken out of the selection process. If this is not the case, the journal will ask the authors to review the referee's comments and include the adjustments they consider appropriate. This process will take two months, approximately. Once the journal received the new version from the authors, the documents will be edited and presented to the Editorial Board, who will make the final decision of publication. Communication with the authors: The Editorial Coordinator will communicate the Editorial Board's decisions by letter o e-mail. The journal will not return not published articles and will not give information before the periods of evaluation have expired. Not publish documents will be kept in different folders in the journal's archives. |
Form and preparation of manuscripts
Works may be submitted by magnetic media, in (Word) .doc format, single spaced, using Times New Roman, 12- point font. Articles may not exceed 12,000 words; reviews, notes and discussions are limited to 3,000 words. The title of the document must appear in English and Spanish. Next to the name of the author should appear a footnote with a summary of his/her curriculum vitae, the institutional affiliation, the country of origin and the contact email. All articles should include a bibliographic reference section at the end, with al least 15 references. A summary in Spanish and English, with a maximum of 200 words, indicating key words, as well as the author’s résumé must be attached. When forwarding work on magnetic media, the author must clearly state: 1. if agrees with the Editorial Policy of the Revista Derecho del Estado from the Universidad Externado de Colombia; 2. whether the article has ever been published, and 3. that the article is not in the selection process of another academic journal or publication. The transcripts that would take place within the text will be in quotes and without the use of italics. Every word or phrase that is written in a language other than Spanish must be in cursive characters, characters that may also be used to highlight a word or phrase in which you want to emphasize. The bold or bold only be used just in titles. Footnotes are to be shown on each page rather than at the end of the text; author name of the referenced work will be in capital (versal) letters, displaying the initials of the first name or names, and full last name; then, followed by a coma (,) the book or article title in italic lettering, whether the book is written in Spanish or any other language; then indicate if it pertains to a particular edition; following specify place of publication ; followed by the name of the editorial, year of publication; and lastly, the page or pages number of the quotes referenced, without the use of the abbreviation “pp” or “p”. For example: Aníbal Pérez-Liñán. Presidential impeachment and the New Political Instability in Latin America, New York, Cambridge University Press, 2007. Rules for footnotes and bibliographic references must follow the guidelines outlined in the Style Manual of the Externado de Colombia.
