The Revista de Derecho Privado is a semi-annual publication that compiles the results of the investigative efforts of the Civil Law, Commercial Law and Process Law departments of the Law Faculty of the Externado de Colombia University and, also, the research and articles written by professors and jurists from other national and foreign universities, that are of interest to the legal Colombian community.

This journal is published twice a year and is targeted to students, researchers and professionals interested in subjects of private law, with special consideration to its development within the traditional roman domain, in order to make evident the contrasts and similarities between the Latin American and European legal systems, without overlooking, of course, the required confrontation, which today is a must, with the so-called the Anglo-American law.

The journal started in 1997 and it is written in Spanish, although it publishes Spanish versions of articles in other languages. The publication and distribution of each number is done in July and December of each year. The journal keeps the legal deposit and sends several issues in exchange and donation to national and international libraries and research centers.

Mission

The journal has the aim to publish papers in civil law from different universities and research centers. It seeks to discuss theoretical approaches and to contribute in the creation of an academic society that brings together an environment of free expression.

Its abbreviated title is Rev. Derecho Privado, and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.
