VEGA Y ORTEGA, Rodrigo. Botanical recreation and instruction in magazines in Mexico City, 1835-1855. []. , 49, pp.109-133. ISSN 0121-1617.

Botany was the subject of several articles published in magazines in Mexico City between 1835 and 1855, as part of the texts read by the middle and upper classes. Authors of these articles were scientists and amateurs who aimed to instruct and entertain the public through topics valued for their helpfulness, such as plant anatomy and physiology, medicinal plants, gardening, hiking in the forests, and the history of botanical research. These articles revealed how diverse social groups disseminated botanical culture according to their interests and daily needs.
