NOLAN, Rachel    MUNOZ ARBELAEZ, Santiago. Intermediaries and Migrations in Latin America. []. , 80, pp.3-10.   12--2021. ISSN 0121-1617.  https://doi.org/10.7440/histcrit80.2021.01.

Objective/Context:

The text positions the studies of mediators and places of transit in the historiography of migrations in Latin America, from the sixteenth to the twentieth century.

Methodology:

The articles in the dossier are placed in the broader context of literature on migratory flows in Latin America.

Originality:

We highlight the need to explore the role played by mediators in migratory processes, as well as the importance of studying migration using an intermediate scale of analysis, which is close to both individual experiences and broader processes.

Conclusions:

The studies evidence that mediators played a central role in the interaction of migrants with the institutions and social networks of the places they arrived at.
