CABEZA, Leonor; CASTRILLON, Jaime    LOMBANA, Jahir. Determination and Analysis of Management Skills to be Strengthened in Colombia. []. , 22, 46, pp.5-20. ISSN 0121-5051.

Skills have been widely studied in models, but their empirical assessment has been quite limited. Based on the TUNING-europa Project, which was replicated in latin america and applied in Colombia, this research proposes to empirically determine the management skills that must be strengthened in this country. Supported by a survey that assesses the perceptions of stakeholder groups (involving academics who teach the theory as well as employers who apply it), the importance and development of skills by professionals is measured. Of the skills assessed, those associated with management are identified and classified as inherent and contributing factors. Those that must be developed are then determined and the differences in perceptions between employers and academics are identified. It was found that that those inherently associated with technology, information and communications must be developed. Additionally, those that involve critical and self-critical capacity (inherent) and which aid in the capacity for abstraction, analysis and synthesis (contributory) are under development. It was determined that inherent factors associated with risk and time management, and contributory factors such as the legal framework, dealing with new situations, commitment to the environment and international contexts, must be strengthened. Employers and academics generally agree on the skills to be developed, which could help to facilitate consensus regarding strategies and policies.
