Abstract: In recent years international interest in projects and their use in the implementation of organizational strategy has increased rapidly. It is therefore very important to count with a system of project management that is capable of responding to demands for adaptability and flexibility and ensuring successful project management. Program and Project Management Maturity Models (P3Ms) have been developed to help organizations manage their projects successfully. These models enable organizations to establish improvement paths that enable them to achieve desired levels of maturity and that respond to their particular conditions and characteristics. However, few efforts have been made to integrate the quest for project maturity with the implementation of strategies. This article reports on the results of five years of theoretical and applied research, which has led to the creation by Colombia's Universidad del Valle of the CP3M© V5 Maturity Model.
