TRESIERRA TANAKA, Álvaro Edmundo; FLORES PARODI, Carolina Milagros    SAMAME MONJE, Ximena Alejandra. PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF AN ORGANIZATION. []. , 26, 59, pp.101-118. The importance of the composition of the Board of Directors of an organization is an issue that has received special attention in recent years. Studies about the effect of the presence of independent managers, managers of different ethnic groups and different genders, seek to determine whether a diverse management will have different approaches and opinions that may enrich the process of decision making and improve the performance of the company. In the particular case of women participation, there are previous studies on this matter for developed economies. However, there are no studies about countries such as Peru, characterized by a dominance of male figures in the business world. The role that women have played during the past few years in the Peruvian business environment has gained special importance and serves as motivation for this study to determine if their presence on the Board has any effect on the performance of the company, especially on its financial dimension. Using a sample of 137 non-financial companies listed on the Lima Stock Exchange, the main results show that female participation in the Board does not significantly affect the financial performance of an organization.
