Higher education institutions have attended the extrinsic approach of quality leaving behind the self-assessment of their organizational performance. the objective of this research is to find the impact of relational capital on organizational performance as measured by the results section of the administrative excellence model of the European Foundation for Quality management (EFQM). For doing this, a questionnaire was applied to a convenience sample of 147 middle managers and executives of eight mexican higher technological education institutions. data were analyzed with a structural equation system by the partial least squares approach. Positive and significant relationships of relational capital with the four criteria of EFQM model results were obtained, concluding that this capital directly affects organizational performance as expressed in the arguments supported by the Resources and Capabilities view.
