MENDOZA-RUIZ, Adriana; OLIVEIRA, Maria Auxiliadora    PARANHOS, Julia. THE COLOMBIAN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY IN INTERDISCIPLINARY ACADEMIC LITERATURE: SCOPING REVIEW, 1990-2018. []. , 32, 83, pp.153-174.   16--2022. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v32n83.99922.

The pharmaceutical industry is strategic for the development of a country, considering its association with health, science, technology and innovation sectors. The objective of this work was to examine the academic literature focused on the Colombian pharmaceutical industry published between 1990 and 2018. To do that, we carried out a scoping review of 84 papers: 71 scientific articles and 13 gray literature documents. A trend towards the growth of related literature was observed, although economic, financial and intellectual property studies remain as the main repertoire. Findings show that the only studies addressing technological development within this industry using primary sources were published between 2007 and 2010. In addition, none of the works in the sample used the Technological Development and Innovation Surveys as a secondary source of information. Despite the fact that some studies with a historical, organizational and materials transformation process' approach contributed to the knowledge of some national companies, the persisting gap in the study of the development and accumulation of innovation capacities by pharmaceutical manufacturers, both private and public, in Colombia was confirmed.
