SUAREZ-OBANDO, Fernando    GOMEZ-RESTREPO, Carlos. Ethical Aspects of Ethnographic Research in Health: The Role of the Research Ethics Committee. []. , 21, 2, pp.330-343. ISSN 0123-3122.  https://doi.org/10.5294/pebi.2017.21.2.11.

The presence and integration of qualitative research to the biomedical research protocols has become increasingly relevant, due to the importance of cultural anthropology. The particular case of ethnography acquires even more preeminence with regards to the definition of risk for the research subject. This paper presents the main characteristics of ethnographic research to be evaluated by a research ethics committee and defines a series of recommendations for risk assessment for subjects undergoing this type of study. The members of Research Ethics Committees must take ethnography into account in order to fully perform their duties.
