^les^aEl ruido vehicular se ha constituido en una problemática ambiental creciente que se expresa mayormente en las ciudades modernas y al cual se le ha prestado poca atención en los países en vías de desarrollo. Tal situación ha motivado a los autores del presente documento, a realizar un acercamiento al estado del arte de esta problemática, procurando no sólo una revisión amplia y rigurosa que identifica sus principales causas y consecuencias, sino también, sus soluciones a la luz del contexto propio de los países en vías de desarrollo.^len^aTraffic noise has become an environmental growing problem that happen mainly in modern cities having not enough attention in the third world. This issue has motivated the authors to put in writing a view of the state of the art of the problem, through a wide and rigorous review that, in the first side, identify its causes and consequences, and in the other, its solutions in the context of developing countries.
