Presentamos una propuesta dirigida a desarrollar competencias interculturales en estudiantes de español como lengua extranjera. Se examinan las relaciones entre el texto y el contexto de un pregón entonado en las calles de Cartagena (Colombia), para aportar indicios que permitan comprender los modos de negociar en el caribe colombiano. El análisis se realiza a partir del enfoque basado en géneros textuales (Eggins, 1994; Feez & Joyce, 2002) y las dimensiones propuestas por Hall (1976) para evaluar culturas nacionales y con ello facilitar la comunicación intercultural. Las primeras conclusiones muestran que el conocimiento del contexto de situación es lo único que permite recuperar significados. Respecto al contexto de cultura, se muestra que la cartagenera es una sociedad de contexto alto, afincada en actitudes y tradiciones duraderas, en el uso de múltiples formas de comunicación y en la negociación de significados implícitos en las relaciones y las situaciones.

This is a proposal for developing intercultural competences in students of Spanish as a foreign language. It examines the relationship between the text and the context of a pregon in the streets of Cartagena, Colombia, in order to understand the ways of negotiating in the Colombian Caribbean. The analysis is based on the genre-based approach (Eggins, 1994; Feez & Joyce, 2002) and the dimensions proposed by Hall (1976) to evaluate national cultures and thereby facilitate intercultural communication. The early conclusions show that the knowledge of the context of the situation is the only one that allows to recover meanings. Regarding the context of culture they show that the cartagenera is a society of high context, rooted in lasting attitudes and traditions, in the use of multiple forms of communication and in the negotiation of meanings implicit in relationships and situations.
