Abstract

SANTANDER MOLINA, Pedro  and  AIMONE GARCIA, Enrique. El Palacio de La Moneda: From the Hawker Hunter's Trauma to Sign Therapy. Signo pensam. [online]. 2006, n.48, pp.185-194. ISSN 0120-4823.

The paper to follow is a semiotic analysis of Ricardo Lagos' (2000-2006) government interventions on the events that took place at La Moneda Presidential Palace. Our semiotic hypothesis asserts that such interventions are semiotic-discursive operations which attempt to invest with therapeutic meaning the traumatic interventions on the same building perpetrated by the military dictatorship (1973-1990). In this sense, the conviction that the semiotic operations performed by the democratic government have a healing (therapeutic) import vis-à-vis the trauma that General Augusto Pinochet inflicted on Chile, pervades our work.

Keywords : Semiotic analysis; therapeutic discourse; trauma.
