Abstract

TABARES OCHOA, Catalina María. The Youth and its Political Reconfiguring Discourses. Political Actions through which Young People Resist the Traditional Political Culture. Estud. Polit. [online]. 2013, n.42, pp.138-156. ISSN 0121-5167.

The article presents the results of the research Jóvenes, formación política y participación democrática. Its main aim was to identify the discourse used by the youth to reconfigure politics. The methodology used was the dialogic reflexivity based on participatory observations, memory workshops and semi-structured interviews with young people from Medellín city engaged in artistic, environmentalists, vegetarianist, feminist and anti-militarist movements. The text has three parts. The first one, Research Contexts, establishes the subject of research and the theoretical reference of the political culture in its interpretative dimension within Political Sciences; the second part describes the image that the young people have of the political system, to show how their actions debate and recreate places of political socialization such as their homes, the church, the school, mass media, and the streets, providing new political meanings to such places.

Keywords : Youth; Political Culture; Political Socialization; Political System; Political Actions; Medellín.
