Abstract

CIFUENTES GARCIA, Cerbulo Andrés; HOYOS BRAVO, Alexandra  and  GUTIERREZ GONZALEZ, Sully Tatiana. Entrepreneurship and Gender in the Post-Conflict Period: An Analysis of the Entrepreneurial Competencies of Female Victims. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.1, pp.87-101.  Epub Oct 23, 2023. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.6402.

In Colombia, five years after the signing of the peace agreement, it is evident that the process of restoring the daily lives of victims of this conflict is still ongoing. Entrepreneurship emerges as a tool that can support the economic empowerment needed for this population. This article analyzed the effects of entrepreneurial competencies among female victims of the armed conflict on the likelihood of starting a business. To do so, this study employed a descriptive and empirical analysis based on data collected from women residing in the municipalities of Buga and Tulua in the Valle del Cauca region, Colombia. It was identified that variables related to risk-taking (resilience and initiative in the “knowing how to be” dimension), those related to exploring opportunities (autonomy and teamwork in the “knowing how to do” dimension), and all proposed variables in the “knowing how to know” dimension are significant factors in the propensity to undertake entrepreneurial endeavors.

Keywords : entrepreneurship; women; victims; post-conflict; competencies.
