Abstract
SAAVEDRA ROBINSON, Luis Andrés; QUINTERO LOPEZ, María Camila and PULIDO VELASCO, Juan Andrés. Corporate social responsibility: an industrial engineering approach to craft bricklayers in rural areas in Colombia. Ing. compet. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.1, e-22112282. Epub Dec 30, 2022. The problems of artisanal brick production in Colombia are diverse and environmental, technical, economic, and social criteria that influence the development of this economic activity can be appreciated. For this purpose, an exploration of the existing brick kiln technologies was carried out through a hierarchical analysis of processes-AHP, a study of physical ergonomics, a study related to the allocation and layout, and finally, a simulation of the production process to generate the design of a new production plant. Very high levels of postural risk were found in the case of brick loading (REBA=11) and high in the case of Molding and Drying (REBA=10). Based on the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method, the new layout suggests a U-shaped orientation and the simulation has shown that the new plant will be able to manufacture 55 batches of 12,000 bricks per year with annual revenues of more than COP$264,000,000, which represents an internal rate of return-on-investment IRR of 16.71%.
