Abstract
RUIZ PEREZ, JOSÉ IGNACIO. CITIZEN CULTURE, FEAR OF CRIME AND VICTIMIZATION: AN ANALYSIS OF THE NTERACTION OF THESE DIMENSIONS FROM THE SOCIAL NETWORK PERSPECTIVE. Act.Colom.Psicol. [online]. 2007, vol.10, n.1, pp.65-74. ISSN 0123-9155.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between perceptions of urban citizen culture, fear of crime and victimization. A non-ramdomized sample was obtained from a group of Bogotás residents whose jobs (i.e. storekeepers, porters) allowed them to get acquainted with members of their community. The research hypothesis stated that both crime victimization and fear of crime were negatively correlated with perceptions of certain dimensions of citizen culture such as compliance with norms and political participation. Results confirmed the hypothesis and showed some implications for social network cohesion
Keywords : fear of crime; crime victimization; urban citizen culture.
