Abstract

PARRA, Dora Inés et al. PERCEPTION OF NURSES ON THE APPLICATION OF CODE OF ETHICS FOR NURSING IN COLOMBIA. Rev Cuid [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.2, pp.1310-1317. ISSN 2216-0973.  https://doi.org/10.15649/cuidarte.v7i2.335.

Introduction: In Colombia, nurses have the code of ethics, created by Law 911 of 2004, which defines the legal provisions on ethics for nursing practice and conceptualizes the act of care. Materials and Methods: Cross -sectional study in nurses from public and private institutions in the city of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. An instrument of 19 items was designed. Descriptive analysis was performed. Results: 251 nurses were analyzed, median age 31 years; 87.6% women; 27.0% had graduate degrees; median work experience of 6 years. Most reported that they always followed the provisions of Chapters I and II, but this was not the case for the item: "When there are institutional rules that limit access to health services you advocate for patients. "In relation to Chapter II of Title II, guidelines about infrastructure, administrative, technical procedures, conscientious objection and the distribution of care according to the complexity of the patient, are sometimes followed. Discussion: The findings of this study are similar to other studies, especially in relation to ethical principles defined in Title I. Conclusions: The results reveal that nurses perceive that a significant percentage of the provisions of these titles is true sometimes, suggesting further analysis of these aspects.
