Abstract
RODRIGUEZ G, PABLO; NAVAS, DIEGO; MEDIANERO, ENRIQUE and CHANG, RODRIGO. Quantification of O. insularis (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) damage in rice crop (Oryzica -1) in Panama . Rev. Colomb. Entomol. [online]. 2006, vol.32, n.2, pp.131-135. ISSN 0120-0488.
In this work the effect of O. insularis Stal on the yield of rough and milled rice was studied; two field experiments were carried out using the Complete Randomized Block design for eight treatments and four replicates. In one experiment groups of 10 newly emerged panicles were confined in separate cages with 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 stink bugs until harvest. A second experiment was meant to determine the susceptibility of panicles of different days of maturity, by infesting groups of 10 panicles with 10 stink bug at 4 day intervals from flowering up to 24 days. Results from these tests indicate that one stink bug per panicle does not reduce the yield of rough rice, and infestations of 0.7 stink bugs per panicle from heading up to 10 days can reduce the field of milled rice. After that period stink bug infestations do not affect the yield of milled rice.
