The specimens were collected in coffee-growing zones of five departments from Colombia. The discovery of P. scalaris is the first record for Sudamerica too. The material is deposited in the entomological collection of the Museum Marcial Benavides (MEMB) of the National Center of Coffee Research, Cenicafé.
