Abstract

The article puts forward some suggestions about catechism from the perspective of experiential pedagogy. The latter proposes the recognition and implementation of the processes of teaching and learning based on the permanent relations with realities and experiences surrounding the educational dynamics of individuals. Thus, such realities and experiences might considerably contribute to catechism and education in faith. From that standpoint, the article considers the contributions of experiential pedagogy to catechism to prepare confirmation. First, it presents some of the main features of experiential pedagogy; second, it highlights the importance of catechism, pedagogy, and evangelization; and, finally, it suggests an integration of the elements of experiential pedagogy with the teachings of catechism. A documentary research was undertaken, which made possible the collection of different sources through critical reading. The research approach was hermeneutical, using abstracts and analysis grids as instruments, and having confirmation, experiential pedagogy, and their integration as main categories.
