Abstract
SENIS, Juan; PENA PRESAS, Montserrat and MORAL BARRIGUETE, Cristina del. Analysis of Editorial Websites in Biographies of Women for Children and Young People. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2023, n.89, pp.389-408. Epub Mar 11, 2024. ISSN 0120-3916. https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num89-17421.
Following the significant and undeniable boom of women's biographies aimed at children and young people in the publishing market in different countries, critics have found that these non-fiction books contain similar models. On the one hand, they transfer different formats from one literary system to another and have a high degree of fictionalization. On the other hand, their feminist commitment is often limited. To further explore their significance and position in the literary system, this paper analyses virtual public epitexts, particularly the editorial websites of 14 collections and series of women biographies aimed at children and young people. The main objective is to determine whether these editorial websites really have a guiding function for mediation or whether their proposal is only promotional or informative. For the analysis, we use the model proposed by Lluch and Escandell (2018), which considers the website presentation, the structure, the social networks, the users and the textual content presented in each of them. Among the conclusions, there is a lack of dynamism in the websites, a scarce presence of multimedia and educational resources, except for some specific cases, and a clear-cut commercial purpose.
