Abstract
CALDERON, Jaime et al. Mechanical On-X valvular prosthesis: surgical experience in the Colombian Cardiovascular Foundation. Rev. Col. Cardiol. [online]. 2006, vol.13, n.2, pp.113-116. ISSN 0120-5633.
The aim of this descriptive study was to analyze morbidity and mortality of patients submitted to aortic, mitral or mitral-aortic valvular replacement with On-X prostheses in the Colombian cardiovascular Foundation from January 2003 to January 2006 in the Colombian Cardiovascular Foundation. There was a 60 days follow-up. Hospital mortality was 6% (10 patients). Mortality for elective procedures was 0% in the 3 groups. In the 60 days follow-up, 97% (81) of the survivals was in functional class I-II according to the New York Heart Association. On-X valve is an effective mechanical prosthesis with low morbidity and mortality and adequate functional results. Follow-up of these patients in Latin-American countries will show the safety of this kind of prostheses.
