Abstract
PERILLA CASTILLO, Eduardo and PINILLA SEPULVEDA, Álvaro Enrique. Analysis of dynamic and acoustic behavior and computational verification for designing flutes. rev.ing. [online]. 2004, n.20, pp.04-13. ISSN 0121-4993.
This paper shows the evaluation and design of traditional traverse flute through experimental and computational engineering analysis. This work required the study of the dynamic and acoustic parameters that govern the behavior of this type of instrument. A flute, as a musical instrument, must have certain sonorous and anatomical qualities for a pleasant performance by the player, as well as to the listener. The study of vortex generation caused by air entrainment in the tube is found to be of great importance, as it is shown in this paper. Basic engineering design criteria are presented for the improvement and construction of wind musical instruments, such as pipe-organs, quenas, ocarinas, to quote just a few.
