Abstract
ACOSTA SARIEGO, José Ramón. FROM THE MENDEL´S GARDEN TO THE FARM OF WILMUT. GREAT HOPES OR LOST ILLUSIONS?. rev.latinoam.bioet. [online]. 2009, vol.9, n.2, pp.28-41. ISSN 1657-4702.
The present article of reflection develops the following hypothesis: the genetic manipulation is not an ethical sin. The humanity cannot resign to the agricultural uses of the biotechnologies, how it is possible then to apply with responsibility the precautionary principle in the context of devoid a global economy eager for gains and of scruples? , how to discern with a reasonable margin of bio-security those applications destined to the food production that does not jeopardize the human health and it does not assault the biodiversity irreversibly? The consideration of the impact of the biotechnological advances in the human health like a global phenomenon, happens necessarily through the sieve of the analysis of the environmental balance. The confluence of these ideas, beyond its ethical-philosophical map course is essential for the search of the moral minimum of the culture of the survival that it enunciated Van Rensselaer Potter.
