In this article we analyze the expansion of the agricultural frontier in the municipality of Sevilla (Valle del Cauca, Colombia) based on the establishment of a land market, and the development of the Antioquian colonization between 1912 and 1926, which turned this area in the north of the department into a coffee economic enclave, connected to domestic, regional and international markets. Process, from which we study both the actors involved and the type and variation of transactions that resulted from the land market. The background of this research is based on the notarial archives of Sevilla, Caicedonia, Zarzal, as well as some data consulted from the Historical Archive of Cali and statistical bulletins of the time. From this process we seek to demonstrate that with the activities carried out, it was possible to give legitimacy to the property rights, which would contribute to the creation of settlements of small and medium landowners that boosted the development of the coffee economy in the northern zone of this department.
