Abstract

MOLINA-CASTANO, David-Esteban; RAMIREZ-BACCA, Renzo  and  LLANO, Albeiro Valencia. Roads in the Territory of Gran Caldas (Colombia): Its Historicity and Review. Historelo.rev.hist.reg.local [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.32, pp.240-281.  Epub Dec 16, 2022. ISSN 2145-132X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/historelo.v15n32.100989.

This article offers a historical review of the routes and roads in the Gran Caldas. The roads are seen as a heritage, cultural and identity reference, for which historical processes such as the colonization of the Andean Central Mountain range, -which includes migrations and settlements-, as well as the expansion and consolidation of Colombian coffee-culture, among others, are evidenced. Thus, the authors analyze the beginnings and transformations of these routes to consider, within the framework of an infrastructure modernization process, the construction of roads, railways, tunnels, and aerial cables. Likewise, they develop a regional historical focus, with sources, which are subject to bibliographic review, and also consider other sources as official documents, chronicles, cartographies, and travel stories, among others.

Keywords : routes; roads; railways; high roads; aeiral cable; transport history; Gran Caldas.
