This article is the result of a doctoral research in education that investigated the social practice of popular extension in popular environmental education and its educational processes, along with a working community, in the city of Uberaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The objective is to show the educational processes of the aforementioned community regarding the chores in popular environmental education. The theoretical framework is linked to popular education, popular environmental education, and popular extension. The methodology is qualitative. Data collection was done via participant observation, using the records in the field diaries. Data were analyzed using content analysis. It was possible to perceive that the students constructed perceptions about the teaching and research activities that reinforce and qualify their professional and personal training, since they made possible the action, reflection, study and systematization of their experiences. Thus, popular extension was dialogically integrated with research and teaching in the formulation of chores useful to transform the conditions of oppression experienced, which, also, turns people into popular environmental educators.
