The country was divided in six regions. A previously trained professor of psychiatry was appointed to conduct workshops, following depression criteria designed by the WPA Committee of Education and Experts. A survey on knowledge and attitudes about depression by participating general practitioners was perfomed. Characteristics and results of this study are presented.
