Abstract
LAVERDE-RUBIO, Eduardo. Research Methodology: Analytical Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.1, pp.117-127. ISSN 0034-7450.
Aim: The present article is a critical review of papers about psychoanalytical and psychotherapeutical research, in diverse study groups, whose objective is to establish and contrast their methodologies. In addition, it examines procedures to assess psychotherapies’ efficacy as agent of psychic change. Method: The articles chosen were representative steming ones from different research groups, published by indexed journals or supported/sponsored by the International Psychoanalytical Association, and cover clinical, empirical, conceptual, experimental, interdisciplinary and applied research fields. Results: This review evidences a broadening of psychoanalytical research field frontiers, which was restricted to psychoanalytical healing for many years. Conclusions: Analyst and psychotherapist, following their continuous formation and updating process, must acknowledge the importance of diversifying their research projects, as well as the necessity of broadening the research-examiner circle to include third party researchers, by means of different methodologies in order to contribute to verification and refining of theory and validation of praxis’ results.
