Abstract
BUILES CORREA, María Victoria and LOPEZ SERNA, Lina María. Reconfguring Narratives of Family Violence in Antioquia (Colombia). rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2009, vol.38, n.2, pp.248-261. ISSN 0034-7450.
Introduction: Authority imposed with blood and tears has begun to be questioned as it is perceived as ineffcient and poses the need of introducing dialogue and negotia-tion in child rearing. Objective: To recognize narratives of well-treatment among the ex-periences of violent families. Method: This is a comprehensive study of a phenomenological-hermeneutical type in which an ethical outcome of the experience of familial violence is privileged together with the disclosure of narratives of well-treatment in families in which a language of violence exists, allow-ing the familys dignity to be rescued as a self-restoring potential against undervaluing experiences. Four families were interviewed in Medellín and Sabaneta (Antioquia, Colombia). Results: Conversation focused on individual and family daily practices. Four narratives were made visible: Feminine and masculine care, acknowledgement of oneself, capacity of integrating plurality, and daily hermeneutics as a possible condition. Conclusions: Recovered well-treatment practices can transform peoples existence by estheti-cally reconfguring everyday family and social life. It is not about burying or forgetting the assault but about rewriting history with the families in a way that violence does not annul the capacity an individual has of doing justice on a daily basis.
