Abstract

Research is analysed as a process, a didactic strategy, and as a scientific method in order to produce knowledge; it also induces the development of the professor in his discipline or profession and as educator. Therefore, the importance of an integral professor training and renovation of traditional pedagogic model are discussed. There are different learning and teaching strategies to build a research culture: trial and error, logical reasoning, repetition of traditional knowledge, research, research fields or lines, emphasize fields, and research seminar. Finally, the possibilities of educational research with both qualitative and quantitative approaches are described, as well as the participative research-action, its ethnography and its phenomenology.
