Abstract

GALFIONE, María Verónica. The Concept Of Aesthetic Subjectivity In Karl Heinz Bohrer's Thought. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2018, vol.67, n.167, pp.81-102. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v67n167.55282.

The paper analyzes Karl Heinz Bohrer's reconstruction of Romantic thought and of its aesthetic conception of subjectivity. It shows how this reconstruction appears in Friedrich Schlegel's aesthetic reflections, and reviews Bohrer's critiques of Schlegel's tendency to reinstate a mythical image of subjective relations. Furthermore, the article examines the way in which the second generation of Romantics overcome this problem; inquires into the extent to which Bohrer's conception of aesthetic subjectivity might be adequate to understand contemporary artistic production; and, finally, discusses some limitations of Bohrer's reading of Schlegel's thought.

Keywords : K. H. Bohrer; F. Schlegel; aesthetics; romanticism; subjectivity.
