Abstract

RUIZ B., CARMEN. BETWEEN SPECTERS AND OBSESSIONS JACQUES DERRIDA AND SURVIVAL. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2019, vol.68, n.170, pp.37-58. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v68n170.63562.

The paper examines the notion of specter in order to evince J. Derrida's critical examination of the opposition between life and death. It shows how Derrida develops this idea in diverse texts that account for an obsession that permeates his thought: survival. The article also ana-lyzes Derrida's discussion with the specter of K. Marx in order to evince: 1) how the faithful-unfaithful legacy of Marx contributes to thinking survival; 2) how the issues of justice and alterity are necessarily inscribed in that thinking of survival.

Keywords : J. Derrida; alterity; specter; survival.
