Abstract
CARVALHO PORTO, Rosane Teresinha and DIMER DORZ, Sabrine. LIMITS AND POSSIBILITIES OF PUBLIC POLICIES TO PREVENT GIRLS' DOMESTIC WORK IN BRAZIL. Prolegómenos [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.42, pp.11-31. ISSN 0121-182X. https://doi.org/10.18359/prole.2798.
This article aims to study child domestic work, especially by girls, considering the age limit of 18 years as provided for in the Federal Constitution, the Child and Adolescent Statute of 1990 and Complementary Law 150 of 2015. In this regard, a question is posed: Does Brazil have effective public policies of specific scope to prevent and combat Brazilian girls' domestic work, with adequate structure and means for their supervision? Therefore, we will first analyze the historical background, including slave labor and its relationship with child labor and that of the latter with domestic work. Then, we will present some factors and conditions of child domestic work, such as culture, schooling, gender and racial issues, as well as the possible consequences of working at an early age. The method employed is deductive based on a literature review.
