Abstract
CORDERO DIAZ, Blanca Laura and JARA SOLENZAR, Dunia Eduvijes. Moving along the Confines. Cuban Migrants Heading to the United States in the 21st Century. Nómadas [online]. 2021, n.54, pp.67-81. Epub Jan 14, 2022. ISSN 0121-7550. https://doi.org/10.30578/nomadas.n54a4.
This article aims to analyze how the migrants of the 21st century experience their journey by the confines of territories, as a result of the control and administration devices of border mobility. It takes into account narratives of Cubans who undertook a migratory project from Cuba to the United States in the second decade of this century, showing how fear, uncertainty, and other difficulties are central in their experiences. The authors conclude by pointing out the alteration of the Cuban migration projects, due to the fact that Mexico has ceased to be a place of transit and has become an unexpected destination, sometimes forced, other times chosen.
