Abstract
SALAZAR-JIMENEZ, Juan Gabriel and TORRES-TOVAR, Carolina del Pilar. Socio-economic aspects present in the feeding practice of children between 2 to 5 years old in a municipality of the department of Boyacá, Colombia. Prospectiva [online]. 2018, n.26, pp.263-290. ISSN 0122-1213. https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i26.5900.
An interdisciplinary analysis of the collection, cultivation, consumption and distribution of vegetable and animal based nourishment in rural zones allows for a description of feeding habits of peasant families. An observational-descriptive study of a multi-disciplinary nature was undertaken to evaluate the feeding habits and the level of food security, with regards to early childhood, of 32 families in the department of Boyacá, Colombia. The results show that a person’s nourishment is the result of cultural learning and depends on economic, employment-related and political factors. Lack of nourishment puts adequate child development at risk.
