This article analyzes the multiple concordant and discordant relations between doctors and female workers and elicits some characteristics of this relation throughout time. This study is based on a social history approach with elements of gender perspectives. The study focuses on the lives of some women who worked as daily or casual employees in the city of Buenos Aires, between the last decades of the nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth century. The objective is to analyze the life experiences of these women in order to outline their arrangements with doctors, the way women from various generations dealt with pain and disease, and the meetings held between doctors and female workers to make complex and constant arrangements while the entailed asymmetry and hierarchy is present.
