NICOLA DAPELO, Luciano. Practices of political participation from the sur cordobesa border: networks, links and factionalism from a study of case (ends of the 19th century).. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.1, pp.161-191. ISSN 0122-2066.
In this article Manuel Antonio Espinosa's life story is addressed, a military man from Tucuman who acts politically from the Rio Cuarto border city. The objective of the research focuses on reconstructing Espinosa's life in order to elucidate the practices and strategies implemented by individuals to build political power in the context of the "Modern Argentina" consolidation in the second half of the 19th century. Additionally, the establishment of family and friendship ties will be analyzed as a key tool to comprehend the elites' social practices and the strategic movements they follow to consolidate their power; within the framework of possibilities that the medium gives them. In this way, Manuel Antonio Espinosa's life is presented as the subject and object of this research, by partial rebuilding his life because of the difficulties regarding the fragmentary and scattered sources. However, those sources permit assemble a coherent narrative that allows identifying social practices about power construction and accumulation. That information constitutes a tool for understanding the elites' social implications, particularly those operating in and from the border area "surcordobés", having a leading role in Argentina during the second half of the nineteenth century.
