Abstract
MORENO GONZALEZ, Leonardo. Hunters of the Archaic Period in the Chucuri Valley, Northeast of Colombia: Settlements and Exploitation of Raw Materials. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.1, pp.15-47. ISSN 0122-2066. https://doi.org/10.18273/revanu.v23n1-2018001.
The article studies the management of raw materials to manufacture tools that, together with lithic technology and settlements, allow us to know the subsistence strategies of archaic communities in the Chucurí River, Santander, Colombia. Physical-chemical techniques (DRX) were applied to assess the natural attributes of the raw materials and their expression in the tools, with the purpose of expanding the archaeological morphological-technical classification in the context of the archaic lithic technology, and to achieve an understanding of the functional location of settlements in a territory and its relationship with raw materials. It is established that the residential sites and the areas of extraction of raw materials, in the context of settlement and economic strategies, are in agreement with material and social survival strategies focused on the management of local resources of these communities.
