JIMENEZ MARTINEZ, Eloy. Around the surface of México-Tenochtitlan in 1.519. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.1, pp.15-45. Epub Dec 30, 2019. ISSN 0122-2066. https://doi.org/10.18273/revanu.v25n1-2020001.
This article aims to contribute to the study of the surface of México- Tenochtitlan in 1.519, upon the arrival of the Spaniards to it. The work begins with a brief introduction about the foundation, geographic location, urban distribution and political nature of the city, as frame of the present study. The method followed consists in a historiographic analysis of the studies that refer to the size of the city; as well as the archaeological findings revealed in what is today the megalopolis of the Mexican Capital. From there, the limits of the old city are sketched, superimposing them in the current street of that one, to obtain the approximate form of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. And using as Geographic Information System the visualization tool provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography -INEGI (Digital Map of Mexico) is concluded, for the size of the primitive city, an approximate result of 9,44 km2.
