Abstract
DIAZ-MARTINEZ, Jency Katerine. Organization and conditions of the working class in Ibagué, 1930s. Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.1, pp.107-138. Epub Dec 16, 2022. ISSN 0122-2066. https://doi.org/10.18273/revanu.v28n1-2023005.
After the 1929 crisis and its global impact, the evolution of the economic sectors brought about changes in the social relations of production that were not unrelated to what was happening at the local level. The above-mentioned changes were experienced by the working class in Ibagué (Colombia) during the 1930s in the social-economic context. This research aims to make visible the experience of this class and its relationship with the industrialization process, the changes in the means of production, and state intervention. For this purpose, it presents an overview of the path of the working class through the historical understanding of the labor movement as a social sector. This analysis is based on a considerable number of primary sources, which make visible labor regulations, the conditions in the work processes, union consolidation, some forms of control that concern the labor and social world of the workers, as well as some production processes.
