Abstract

The location of purification systems in cities constitutes an environmental and terri torial problem in many places of the world, especially, in settlements in developing countries. Ordinarily, their poor location or operation causes problems that affect the environment, the soil, the health, and the lives of people. That is the issue treated in this paper, which analyzes the possible environmental and territorial conflicts related to the location and operation of wastewater treatment systems in the city of Montería (Colombia). Methodologically, this research collected and analyzed primary and secondary sources; it concluded by analyzing the effects and presenting proposals for improvement to consolidate the sustainable urban development of the promoted city.
