Abstract
KOZINER, Nadia Sabrina. News frames of the judicial conflict between the Argentine government and Clarín Group over the adjustment to the Audiovisual Media Law. Encuentros [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.23-46. ISSN 1692-5858. https://doi.org/10.15665/encuent.v16i02.994.
This research paper aims to analyze the predominant news frames in the coverage that the economist Argentine newspapers made of the case called “7D”, referring to December 7th 2012. This was a key date in the judicial controversy between the national Government and the most important media holding, Grupo Clarín, about the adjustment process the latter should had started to the provisions of the Law No. 26,522 on Audiovisual Communication Services. An operationalization of the definition of framing proposed by Entman (1993) is made. The used technique is quantitative content analysis, which is performed on the entire universe of articles published about the case. To process the collected data a cluster analysis is carried out, which shows that there are two frames that dominate texts: “political-institutional dispute” and the second and “political-economic polarization”. The paper is based on the author’s Master Thesis findings.
