The theft of mobile phones as a recurrent criminal phenomenon in the Colombian capital city has become one of the most disturbing damages aff ecting citizen safety, and is demanding particular attention from the authorities in order to avoid further civilian victims and sometimes even fatal casualties resulting from the thief attempting to snatch these personal devices away from their hands. For the purpose of combating this crime and directly aff ecting the finances of the criminal organizations engage in this kind of off enses, one of the most creative strategies introduced by local authorities has been the application of the measure known as extinction of the right of property ("dominio").
