Abstract
AVILA-TOSCANO, José Hernando and RAMBAL-RIVALDO, Laura Isabel. Scientific Production of Psychology Researchers of the Colombian Science System According to Their Rank and Sex. Av. Psicol. Latinoam. [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.3, pp.1-. Epub July 01, 2023. ISSN 1794-4724. https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/apl/a.8133.
The researchers' production has an impact on their professional rank, financial access, and scientific media. The production of researchers has increased in the field of psychology; for this reason, this study focused on analyzing the productivity of psychologists, both men and women, in accordance with their sex and rank (Senior, Associate, Junior) in the Colombian research system. The production of292 researchers (2009-2018 period) was studied through the descriptive discriminating analysis, getting as a result that the index of articles in Q3 WoS/Scopus outstands as the variable which discriminates the rank of the researchers. Two clusters were brought up as part of the productive activity (1=High, 2=Low), which showed relation with the researcher's rank; however, those clusters were independent of sex. Both, implications of scientists' ranking in Colombia and the role of productivity in this process, are under discussion. In the case of Psychology, the production of researchers in the sample does not seem to bear the sex gap.
