The aim of this research is to analyze the environmental and social perceptions pre-school children in the peri-urban area of an educational community of Calarcá Quindío-Colombia have, about three fundamental categories: the natural, social and artificial, using spatial, temporal and curriculum contexts. The above, using the analysis of drawings as a didactic and methodologic alternative in the processes of scholastic Environmental Education.
The theoretical framework of this study focuses on environmental education for a preschooler level, regarding its importance on knowledge production, and in the use of an integral perspective about the environment, to understand and to read its circumstances.
On the methodological level, it is adopted a descriptive-exploratory type of qualitative approach, and it is used a semi-structured interview as a survey device, in order to obtain information in a deeper level about the children´s perspective about socioenvironmental conditions. Finally, the article presents an analysis of the results through a categorial matrix, sustained from the perspective of the chosen theory, which allows a systematical and relational comprehension of the perceptions and significance of the studied subjects in this investigation. At the same time, these findings unveil tendencies about how children perceive and value their context, from their experiences and everyday life, expressed through drawings.
