Abstract

This research aimed to determine the relationship between the level of formal thought and academic performance in mathematics, of students of vocational middle district of Barranquilla. The correlational design had a sample of 196 students; 92 belonged to tenth and 104 to eleventh grade, aged 15 - 17 years. The test of TOLT and Vasco was used. A descriptive and statistical analysis was done by means of Pearson correlation using SPSS software. Authors found that these students do not have formal thought and that there is a significant positive relationship between the variables Formal Thinking and Academic Performance in Mathematics.
