Abstract

GONZALEZ-CARDONA, MARÍA ZULAY  and  MORALES-PINZON, TITO. Didactic unit and ludio to explain the water pollution phenomenon. Zona prox. [online]. 2020, n.32, pp.41-50.  Epub May 12, 2021. ISSN 2145-9444.  https://doi.org/10.14482/zp.32.370.

Conceptual appropriation of environmental problems at a scientific level faces difficulties derived from teaching methods and the lack of didactic tools, affecting the development of critical thinking and scientific competences in the area of natural sciences and environmental education. The objective was to carry out a didactic unit for the explanation of environmental phenomena, through play and simulation in the classroom, using as a case study the contamination of water sources by domestic dumping. As a methodology, the study used the application of a knowledge test named pretest, a qualitative assessment of the socioeconomic status of the students, the characterization of learning styles and the design of a didactic unit that consisted of seven activities, three weekly hours for two months; and in the end, a posttest was applied using the same questionnaire. As results, students achieved a significant advance in the assessed competence, increasing the result of the evaluation from 31.8% to 64.4%, with a favorable effect of the development of the didactic unit.
