Abstract

HENAO RAMOS, VERÓNICA  and  SALAZAR HENAO, MYRIAM. "Parenting guidelines and vulnerability: generational and institutional narratives" children's home Neighborhoods Norte de Marsella - Risaralda. Zona prox. [online]. 2021, n.35, pp.22-48.  Epub May 02, 2022. ISSN 2145-9444.  https://doi.org/10.14482/zp.35.155.41.

This article presents the main results of a research that seeks to understand the parenting practices in the generational narratives of family agents of boys and girls linked to the Hogar Infantil Barrios del Norte of Marsella - Risaralda, Colombia, which starts from the question how are parenting practices exhibited in the narratives of family agents, the relationships between them, institutional practices, and the vulnerability contexts of families? Theoretical tendencies expressed in metaphors and narratives are presented, trying to argue the contexts of vulnerability, as well as the theoretical ruptures and displacements in two regularities found in the research: the material, social, and institutional dimension; and the affective, ethical, and political dimension. The unit of analysis was the narratives of six family agents, from two generations and three institutional agents. Narratives and semi-structured interviews were used; to analyze the data, a qualitative structural analysis was carried out in search of an understanding of relationships of significance, and construction of meanings in the face of upbringing. The political agency category emerges within families to build processes, environments, and scenarios towards quality of life, which not only includes the goods and services to which they have access to satisfy material and social needs, but also the degree of freedom to choose the style and way of life that they value the most, the social practices and spaces for political participation, work, and daily activities, and life-long welfare, in parenting relationships.

Keywords : Parenting guidelines; politics; politics agent; narratives.
